Rob Reiner’s daughter has spoken publicly following the tragic deaths of the acclaimed film director and his wife, Michele, revealing she had seen her father just one day before the couple were found dead.
Tracy Reiner, 61, said she was left devastated and in shock by the loss, describing her family as “the greatest family ever.” Tracy, who was adopted by Reiner during his marriage to filmmaker Penny Marshall, said she is still struggling to process the tragedy.
“I don’t know what to say,” she said. “I’m in shock.”
She added that she had seen her late father at a family gathering a day before the fatal knife attack.
Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68, were discovered dead at their $13.5 million Brentwood home on Sunday afternoon. The couple were found by their daughter Romy, 28. Authorities have confirmed that both victims suffered fatal neck wounds.

Their youngest son, Nick Reiner, 32, has been arrested and charged with murder, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.
A law enforcement source told The U.S. Sun that tensions reportedly arose during a Hanukkah gathering the evening before the deaths. The party was hosted by Conan O’Brien, according to TMZ. Investigators believe an argument may have continued after the family returned home.
Nick Reiner was booked into a Los Angeles jail on Monday morning and is currently being held on $4 million bail at Parker Center Jail, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed during a press conference.
Nick has previously spoken publicly about his struggles with drug addiction, revealing in a 2016 interview that his substance use once led to homelessness.
“When I was out there, I could’ve died,” he said at the time. “It’s all luck.”
In 2015, Nick and his father collaborated on the semi-autobiographical film Hey Charlie, which explored the relationship between a famous father and his troubled son. Rob Reiner later reflected on how emotionally difficult the project was for him.
“It was very, very hard,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “Making the movie dredged it all up again.”
The Reiner family has asked for privacy as they grieve, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Donald Trump has been widly criticised for launching a personal attack on, claiming his death was brought about by his criticism of the President.
President Trump has issued a post on his Truth Social account in which he makes unfounded allegations that Reiner’s death was brought about by his “obsession” with criticising him.
“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood,” the post read. “Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before,” he added. “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
The director had been consistently outspoken about President Trump, calling him “mentally unfit” and “the single most unqualified human being” to be US President in a 2017 interview with Variety.
