Saoirse Ronan has won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Actress Film/Television following her performance in The Outrun.

The actress won the award for her performance in the recovery drama. She was not present at the ceremony itself, which took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central over the weekend. The award was collected on Ronan's behalf by her friend and fellow nominee Izuka Hoyle.

Reading out a message from Ronan, Hoyle called The Outrun an "incredible team effort", before going onto thank all those involved.

The film itself, is based on the book by author Amy Liptrot, who also received a noteworthy mention in Ronan's speech.

"This would not have been possible without you, your willingness to let us into your lives, your homes, your story", Hoyle read.

Ronan's speech also praised Hoyle, calling her a "beautiful, rare gem", saying:  "The work you've seen from her so far is only the beginning. Watch her soar".
