Venus Williams married actor and producer Andrea Preti, it was confirmed.
The US tennis star and Preti tied the knot in their second wedding which took place five days in Palm Beach, Florida. Williams confirmed that she met Preti at the Gucci Show during Milan Fashion Week. Preti is an actor and producer, who spent most of his childhood in his native Denmark, before moving to Italy.
The couple got engaged last January in Tuscany, with their first wedding taking place in Ischia, Italy, according to Vogue.
Williams, who won seven Grand Slams, and is the sister of tennis champion Serena, told Vogue magazine: "After our dates in London, I just knew I was going to marry him. People always say they just know, and I just knew".
She continued: "We had this dream to do our wedding in Italy. But we didn't have enough time to do the paperwork - because I’m a foreigner, it can take about eight months. So we decided to have a second wedding".
Having tied the knot last weekend, the couple celebrated last Monday when "10 to 12 of our closest family and friends" celebrated on a yacht, which was gifted to them by Venus' sister, Serena.
She added: "We love welcoming people into our home every single day, and everyone was eager to have fun with us. It was the Italians and the Americans all together".
The rest of the week saw the bridal shower take place on the back patio of the pair's home, with Williams and her bridal party dancing to Beyoncé.
The following day, close family and friends of the couple enjoyed a lovely dinner in Miami at the members' club Sopra, upstairs at the Forte dei Marmi restaurant. Thursday saw them also hold a sports day, including tennis, volleyball, dodgeball, pickleball and wheelbarrow races.
Last Friday, Williams and Preti then had their courthouse wedding, with the latter wearing a dress by Morilee New York.
Williams said: "I wanted to wear a dress that I thought Andrea would love and that was magical and perfect for a Florida wedding".
On the day itself, Williams added: "It was just the happiest, most beautiful, sweetest day".
