American actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, has died aged 54.
The actor, best known for starring on The Cosby Show, has died in a swimming accident in Costa Rica, according to reports in ABC News. The outlet revealed that Warner had drowned near Cocles, a beach in Limon, Costa Rica at the weekend.
This comes after a US citizen with the last name Warner was pulled out to sea by a rip current, according to reports sent to the Central American nation's judicial investigation department. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Red Cross lifeguards. Reports had also stated that Warner was on a family holiday at the time of his holiday.
Among many credits, Malcolm-Jamal Warner was best known for his role as Theodore Huxtable in the sitcom The Cosby Show, which ran from 1984 to 1992. The show was a groundbreaking series on US TV, based on a successful black middle-class family.
In that period, Warner was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
Other Warner screen credits include Fame, Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines, Community, Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story: Freak Show, Suits, and The Resident.
In 2015, Warner landed a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his track, Jesus Children, featuring Robert Glasper Experiment and Lalah Hathaway.
