Welsh singer Tom Jones is set to launch a brand-new Kildare venue, Live at Palmerstown House, with a headline concert this August. The 85-year-old music legend, whose career spans more than six decades, will perform on 9 August, accompanied by special musical guests. Tickets, priced at €76.40, go on sale on Thursday, 2 April, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. This event marks Jones’ much-anticipated return to Ireland and inaugurates Palmerstown House as a major venue for live music events.
Palmerstown House aims to establish itself as a key destination for large-scale live performances, particularly during the busy summer concert season. The estate plans to host a series of international musical acts, combining world-class talent with the unique setting of the property. Jerry Power, Group General Manager at Comer Group Hotels, commented on the launch, saying, “We’ve seen growing interest in Palmerstown House Estate as a location for live events, and we’re really looking forward to bringing a series of high-quality shows to the site. Our focus is to support and continue to deliver great events in a unique setting, and we’re excited about the role the estate can play as this series develops over the coming years.”
Tom Jones’ career has been extraordinary, with hits like It’s Not Unusual, What’s New Pussycat?, Delilah, and Green, Green Grass of Home solidifying his status as one of the most enduring voices in popular music. His recent albums—Surrounded By Time, Long Lost Suitcase, Spirit in the Room, and Praise & Blame—showcase an artistic reinvention, blending contemporary sounds with his classic vocal style.
Born in the mining town of Pontypridd, South Wales, Jones left school at an early age and took on various odd jobs before pursuing music. He began his career as a member of a local band, The Senators, and later formed Tom Jones and the Squires, performing in clubs and pubs around the area. His big break came in the early 1960s when he signed with Decca Records in London, launching a career that would see him collaborate with music icons including Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, Dolly Parton, and Ed Sheeran.
The Palmerstown House launch represents both a homecoming for Jones and an exciting new chapter for live entertainment in Ireland. With its combination of a historic estate setting and top-tier music performances, the venue is poised to become a must-visit destination for music fans, promising an unforgettable summer concert experience.
