Dearest gentle reader, we now know who season five will focus on... and it's fair to say some fans are surprised!
Netflix confirmed the news on Tuesday alongside a teaser clip showing a glimmer of affection between the two new leads.
'Next season, love begins again,' the teaser reads, as the duo reaches tenderly for each other's hands.
'Do not fret, dearest readers, for a certain countess shall find love again... Bridgerton Season 5 is now in production,' the caption of the teaser clip reads.
That's right - the love story between Francesca Bridgerton [Hannah Dodd] and Michaela Stirling [Masali Baduza] will be the focus of the next season.
One fan wrote: 'The fifth season should be philoise's IS IT NOT?,' as another penned: 'So we’re sidelining Eloise again? We really can’t stay in order of the siblings/books. A bit of a disappointment.'
The news comes after Francesca's beloved husband, John Stirling, passed away in season four, leaving fans heartbroken.
Their relationship was anything but smooth sailing, but after facing a number of setbacks, things finally looked to be back on track.
Then, John announced in episode six that he had a headache and needed to lie down. While his family remains in the dark as to why he died due to the medical knowledge available at the time, the books reveal that the character suffered an aneurysm.
