Beyoncé took to Instagram following her final show in London to give thanks to Paul McCartney for "writing one of the best songs ever made."

Beyoncé has wrapped up her Cowboy Carter tour's six show run at London Tottenham Stadium on Monday 16th of June, the pop singer took to social media after the show with a heartfelt message to fans and giving thanks to Paul McCartney.

Beyoncé refers to the Beatles song 'Blackbird' from the 1968 double album 'The Beatles' as one of the best songs ever made as it features on her new album. Beyoncé covers The Beatles classic on her recent album 'Cowboy Carter', she even renames the song as 'Blackbiird', to give her own spin on the classic song. Her version of the track reimagines the original as she adds vocal contributions from rising female country artists Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts and Tiera Kennedy. She states in her Instagram post,"Every time I sing it, I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter’s design." Her Instagram posts sees her wearing a t-shirt with two blackbirds and the word blackbird written across her hip.

Beyoncé performed 'Blackbird' on all six nights of her London shows, with it sitting at the second song on the setlist. Her cover of the classic song was accompanied by the original master recording backing track. This cover is one of two featured on her new album, along with her take on Dolly Parton's 'Jolene'. The decision to cover a Parton song on her country album seemed an excellent oppurtunity, with Parton herself dropping hints about the prospect. However 'Blackbird' is a track that some fans deem to be an unexpected addition to Beyonces new country album. To some, the song 'Blackbird' appears to be a track that sings of an innocent black bird however it contains a much deeper meaning and substance behind it. The track is steeped in the civil rights movements as McCartney originally penned the song as a tribute to the Little Rock Nine, a group of black students who faced violent resistance while integrating a high school in Arkansas in 1957.

McCartney took to Instagram earlier this year to praise Beyonce's cover of the classic Beatles song, as he states "I think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place. I think Beyoncé has done a fab version and would urge anyone who has not heard it yet to check it out. You are going to love it!" He continues to say that anything his song and Beyoncé's version can do to ease racial tension would be "a great thing and makes me very proud"
