Father Ted Creator, Graham Linehan Arrested In The UK Over Posts On X

Father Ted writer, Graham Linehan was arrested in Heathrow over three posts on X about his views on transgender issues.

Linehan was arrested by five officers in Heathrow Airport on suspicion of inciting violence in relation to his posts on social media. He was arrested after arriving on a flight from the US, and said in a substack article that shortly after he was arrested, officers became concerned for his health after they checked his blood pressure, he was then taken to hospital.

Linehan stated in a substack article that his bail condition is that he must "not go on Twitter", and that his arrest was related to the posts he made to Twitter on his views about challenging "a trans-identified male" in "a female-only space".

One of the posts Linehan posted to X read,"If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls."

Another post from Linehan was a photo of a trans rights protest with the caption that read "a photo you can smell."

The Met Police did not directly name Linehan in their report but a spokeswoman said, "On Monday, September 1 at 1pm officers arrested a man at Heathrow Airport after he arrived on an inbound American Airlines flight. The man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of inciting violence. This is in relation to posts on X. After being taken to police custody, officers became concerned for his health and he was taken to hospital. His condition is neither life-threatening nor life-changing. He has now been bailed pending further investigation."

On a separate note, Linehan is due to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court today, as he has been accused of harrassing transgender woman Sophia Brooks and damaging her phone, which he denies.
