Beckham was knighted in the Kings Birthday honours list this month along with Roger Daltrey and Gary Oldman. Victoria Beckham took to Instagram to congratulate her husband on this achievement as she says “You’ve always been my knight in shining armour, but now it’s official,” Victoria wrote. “Your dedication to the things that matter most—your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family—has never wavered. The way you’ve touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. But above all else, I’m so, so proud to call you mine.”
As the news of Beckham's knighthood came out, his family feud overshadowed the milestone, as reports focussed on Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz's fall out with the rest of the Beckham family. The reports began three years ago speculating a family feud as it was reported that Nicola refused to wear one of Victoria Beckham's designs on her wedding day. However, Nicola shortly shut down these rumours stating that Victoria's atelier could not make it on time, meaning she had to go with another designer. The rift between Brooklyn and his parents has brought his wife Nicola into the feud as family insiders claim that his parents are concerned with influence that she has on him.
The reports of the Beckham family feud have resurfaced after Brooklyn and Nicola were not in attendance at any of David Beckham's 50th birthday celebrations and did not post a birthday message online. The past few weeks have focussed on Brooklyn and his decision to set up home in LA. It has been claimed that his decision to purchase a new home in LA was tied to his desire to create a pernament distance from his parents in London. Although MailOnline was told by an insider that the decision was due to Brooklyn feeling more at home in Los Angeles, after spending majority of his upbringing in the US.
Matt Navarra, a social media specialist tells the BBC, that fans expect to see social signs such as a Instagram post for a birthday, and when they are missing this leads fans to assume tension and conflict in the family. They state that every Instgram post uploaded by the Beckham's has been agonised over, they explain that even if it is announced that the feud is over, it is unlikely that the social media investigations will end. Navarra tells the BBC that "the social media algorithm doesn't care about accuracy - it cares about engagement."
