On Thursday afternoon on The Niall Boylan Show, Tara Duggan (in for Niall) spoke to Amy Richards. 18 year old Amy had to sit her leaving cert exam in hospital only hours after coming out of surgery. She had undergone surgery after her appendix ruptured and became gangrenous just hours earlier. Here Amy told Tara how physically and emotionally draining the entire experience was and wants to make sure no other student has to go through the same. She is calling on the Department of Edcuation to ensure students who suffer trauma at the time of their exams can resit at a later date.
