An actress has been mocked and ridiculed online after she uploaded a poem written by herself where she wishes that she was Vladamir Putin's mother!

Former 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord said she wished she was the Russian president's mother, so she could hug him and tell him that war is wrong.

However, the literary attempt has backfired, drawing huge criticism from people who have called her "self indulgent" and "narcissistic" for drawing attention to herself in the midst of Russia's attempt to invade Ukraine.

'I'm so sorry I was not your mother', McCord began the poem. 'If I was your mother, you would have been so loved, held in the arms of joyous light".

In a video which lasts 2 minutes and 20 seconds, McCord stated that Putin's life could have turned out so different if he had been loved by her.

Despite blaming Putin's mother during the poem, it has been understood that the Russian boss' mother was a kind woman who worked in a factory. It was reported that she even baptised her son during the Communist Era.

Putin himself even described his mother Maria Shelomova as a great cook who enjoyed the simple life.

'We lived very simply cabbage soup, cutlets, pancakes", Putin said in an interview posted on the Kremlin website. 'But on Sundays and holidays my Mom would bake very delicious stuffed buns with cabbage, meat and rise, and curd tarts".

McCord also claimed that Putin's invasion of Ukraine would have been avoided if she was his mother.

'If I was your mother, the world would have been warm", she said. 'If I was your mother, if the world was cold, I'd have died to make you warm,' she said. 'I'd have died to protect you from the unjust; the violence; the terror; the uncertainty. I would have died to give you life.'

However, this video has since drawn criticism from several viewers via social media.

'I'm not sure if this is meant to be a parody or truly everyone in Hollywood is just out of their minds", Conservative commentator Meghan McCain tweeted. 'But thank you to this actress lady for making me smile for the first time in 24 hours. 'Nailed it girl, wars over".

While another added, 'Why do celebs keep sending their audition tapes to Twitter?'.

'Calm down,' tweeted @ConceptualBIG. 'There's no need to torture people using cringe as a weapon.'

One person did defend the poeam, calling it genuine and heartfelt.

'If you actually listen to her words rather than just making snap judgments, her point is that blind allegiance to a country and power is an ego’s attempt at a replacement for emotional needs that were not met".
