Paul Mescal's Mum Dearbhla Shares Positive Update On Cancer Battle

Paul Mescal's mum Dearbhla has shared a positive update regarding her battle with cancer.

In 2022, the 55 year old former guard was diagnosed with a cancer known as multiple myeloma, which forms in white blood cells. 

But in an emotional post on social media, Dearbhla reflected on how far she has come since her diagnosis, and thankfully it is good news.

Dearbhla has been documenting her treatment progress online, sharing her determination and positivity with her fans. In her most recent post, she revealed that she is on the mend. 

"It's been a moment. 365 days of moments to be exact. This day last year I came home from the most incredible Burkitt Ward at St James' Hospital following my stem cell transplant", she said. 

Dearbhla added, "My immune system is on the up and my energy is climbing. I am so thankful to all those who mind, hold, love, and care for me". 

"You are my forever people. Now with gratitude, hope, loads of joy, and a sprinkling of courage, ley's find out what's next?!". 

Meanwhile, All Of Us Strangers star Paul Mescal opened up about struggling to deal with his mother's illness, when he first heard the news while filming alongside co-star Andrew Scott.

"It's out in the world now and my mum's doing great but at the time that we were filming it, I found out that my mum had become quite sick", the Normal People star stated. 

Speaking recently, Paul Mescal referred to one scene where Andrew Scott's character talks about how losing his mother weighed heavily on him. 

'It's so interesting now looking back. I wasn't able to process it at the time, but my body was processing it in kind of real time. Like the scene where Andrew talks about the death of his mother, I was just going to work and thinking it was fine and I was going to get through it", the Maynooth native said. 

"Grief is an amazing thing because it had nothing to do with your head. It's a physical thing, In my head, I was like, "I'm fine, I'm fine... but something that I've learned about grief is that it's a physical thing and you can say that you're fine in your head, but it has to manifest itself some way".
