Taylor Swift has been named the biggest-selling global recording artist in 2023.

This was confirmed by the International Federation of the Photographic Industry's (IFPI) Global Artist Chart, who named Swift as Record Artist of the Year for the fourth time. Swift was named by the IFPI, the organisation who represent the recorded music industry worldwide.

The organisation also added that Swift has won this award more times than any other artist, having previously won the award in 2014, 2019, and 2022.

The IFPI said that the singer's ongoing Eras tour which kicked off last March, also led to a resurgence in her catalogue, while her albums including 2022's Midnights and re-releases Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and 1989 (Taylor's Version), also featured in the top charts last year.

Last year, Taylor Swift also broke the Guinness World Record for the highest grossing music tour ever, with The Eras Tour, surpassing $1 million in revenue.

Director of Charts and Certifications at IFPI, Lewis Morrison. said that Swift "continues to redefine the limits of global success" before adding: "Taylor is a singular talent and her commitment to her craft and her fans is truly phenomenal".

"It is also fantastic to see so many artists entering the chart for the first time, and the return of established acts years after their last appearance," Morrison added.

"As the global recorded music landscape shifts and new opportunities emerge, record companies continue their work to build global, long-term careers for their artists".

Such artists include country star Morgan Wallen who debuted in the chart at number 6, while K-Pop acts Tomorrow X Tomorrow and New Jeans also featured in the top 10 at number seven and eight respectively.

Lana Del Rey came in at number 10, while rapper also Bad Bunny featured, as did fellow rapper Drake at number four. Second and third place in the chart went to K-Pop stars Seventeen and Stray Kids respectively.
