Chris Hemsworth has claimed leaving American was the "greatest decision" he has ever made.
The Marvel star, who returned to his native Australia with his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children over a decade ago, spoke about this during a recent appearance on the Smartless podcast. He now resides in New South Wales' Byron Bay with his family, where they have lived since 2015.
“It was right around the time my boys were born, and it was just, we kind of were set up in LA and not enjoying it, you know?” he said. “Like nothing was shooting there. We were filming kind of everywhere else and then… you’d come home and paparazzi and all the sort of the trappings of, you know, living in that space".
On his current living arrangements, Hemsworth added: “You know, when you come back from work, you wanna go on a holiday? Like coming home for me is — it feels like a holiday” he said. “We have a big farm and horses and motorbikes and surf".
Chris Hemsworth first shot to fame starring as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), before going on to play the character four times in solo projects. He has also appeared in all four Avengers movies. The actor will reprise his role in Avengers: Doomsday.
In recent times, Hemsworth has also starred in the thriller, Crime 101, as part of a star studded cast which includes Irish actor Barry Keoghan, Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry. Find out more on this here.
Last year, Chris Hemsworth recalled performing live on stage with Ed Sheeran, calling it an "out of body experience".
This happened after he had joined Sheeran on stage at a concert in Bucharest, Romania in front of 70,000 concert goers. Hemsworth had learned how to play the drums as part of the National Geographic series, Limitless: Live Better Now.
"(It was) very much a kind of out of body experience and and there’s something about being in unison and in time with, not just a band, but a mass group of people", Hemsworth said at a Q&A. "And I imagine it was sort of like a universal prayer or whatever, where people got together, and this sort of intention to point towards something positive in the same direction that there would be some interconnected experience".
He continued: "And that’s what it felt like. I felt like it was kind of beyond me at that point. I was just floating along for the ride". More on this story here.
