Irish actor Lola Petticrew has described their role in new crime drama Furious as “an incredible gift”, praising the opportunity to play such a complicated and unpredictable character.
Petticrew stars in the Hulu series alongside Shameless star Emmy Rossum, playing Catherine Grace, the mysterious woman at the centre of an FBI investigation.
The eight-part series has been a huge hit with Irish viewers, topping JustWatch’s list of the most-watched TV shows in Ireland during August.

Speaking to TV Topics, Petticrew opened up about what it was like to take on the role of Catherine.
“As an actor and an artist it's an incredible gift to play somebody like Catherine, who is so deeply messy and complicated,” they said.
“To be able to bring that to the screen and put that out into the world when it's a rarity is a real gift for me.”

Catherine is at the heart of the mystery in Furious, which follows FBI agent Alice Black, played by Rossum, as she investigates a series of crimes linked to a mysterious female serial killer.
As Alice gets closer to the truth, her own past becomes increasingly connected to the case, while the story explores the complicated relationship between justice and revenge.
For Petticrew, the role offered the chance to play a character who doesn't fit easily into one category.
Their performance has been singled out by critics, with The Daily Beast describing it as one of the best performances on television.

Petticrew, who is from Belfast, has built an impressive career across film and television. They are known for roles in Dating Amber, Bloodlands, Say Nothing and Tuesday.
Furious has also received a strong response from critics. The series currently holds a 98 per cent critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside an 88 per cent audience score, while it has a 7.8 rating on IMDb.
The series has been praised for going beyond the traditional crime thriller, exploring themes including trauma, abuse and institutional failure.

Rather than presenting its characters as simply good or bad, Furious keeps them morally complicated, leaving viewers to question their motivations and decisions.
Rossum plays Alice Black, a former NYPD homicide detective who is now a probationary FBI agent. She also serves as an executive producer on the series.
The cast also includes Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Jake Lacy, Rob Yang and Steve Way.

The first season of Furious consists of eight episodes and is now complete. The series has already been renewed for a second season.
