Coleen Nolan has revealed that she has been diagnosed with skin cancer.

Nolan, a singer and Loose Women star, is renowned for being part of the Anglo-Irish family pop group with her sisters. She becomes the latest member of the Nolan family to be diagnosed with cancer.

Coleen's sister Linda announced this year that her cancer had spread to her brain, while her younger sister Bernie passed away in 2013 to cancer. Along with being part of The Nolans, Bernie is also known for her acting career, having had roles in Brookside and The Bill in the early noughties.

Another sister Anne, was also diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time in 2020, however, she is cancer free.

Speaking on Monday, Coleen Nolan revealed that she decided to visit a doctor, after another sister Maureen would often point to a "tiny bit of skin", noticing that it was a "bit red".

She also revealed that she was seeing a dermatologist about "another problem", when they said that the skin was common cancer basal cell carcinoma.

“I went back in and he was very good and he said, ‘Look, it’s nothing to worry about. It is actually a cancer that doesn’t necessarily spread, but you do need to treat it and we’ll try it with cream and then the chemo cream and then if that doesn’t work, we’ll cut it out and give you a skin graft", Nolan said.

“My first instinct, typical me, was to laugh hysterically because I just thought that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard anybody say", she continued. “I’m sick of cancer and also, my first instinct was, I’m not telling anybody in my family because this that I’ve got at the moment seems nothing compared to what my sisters have been though".

Paying tribute to her sister Linda, Coleen also added, “And… what Linda is going through, where it has gone to her brain and she’s having chemo.

Nolan is also hopeful to raise awareness for other people to get any abnormalities checked.

"very proud"

Reacting to her news, Linda Nolan said that she is "very proud" of her sister.

“She acted on her instincts, found something amiss and got it checked", Linda said. “If you spot something out of the ordinary for you, PLEASE get it checked. Don’t be frightened".

2020 also saw Linda announce that she was diagnosed with cancer for a third time, having faced treatment for breast cancer in 2006.
