Interest in Barbie has a baby's name has risen by over 600%, following the ongoing success of the recently released film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

This was revealed by NameBerry, a website which publishes popular baby names and their meaning. They made this revelation in a recent interview.

According to the site, name searches for Barbie have increase by 603%, ever since the Greta Gerwig directed film, released its trailer back in April. It also emerged that searches for the name Ken have also seen a major increase, rising by 293% to be precise.

The website also named Barbie as 1,896 in their list of 2,000 names, which are trending at the moment, with Kenneth as opposed to Ken being listed at 113th of 2,000 top boy names trending.

However, do not expect parents who have recently had children to name them after Barbie and Ken, as speaking to People recently, NameBerry's editor in chief Sophie Kihm insisted that this does not mean parents are considering them as names for their offspring.

“Barbie and Ken are piquing parents’ interest, but this doesn’t mean that will translate into actual usage,” she said. “As of now, Barbie is a predominant Amish name".

Kihm also added that she does not expect searches for Barbie and Ken to continue for the rest of this year.

“Barbie and Ken are both dated names that aren’t due to come back yet, so while there may be a slight bump from the movie, neither will be among the most popular baby names of 2023", she explained.
