Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper is in a "very serious condition" in hospital, according to reports.

The former political advisor had fallen seriously ill with Covid-19 in March 2020, suffering major long-lasting damage to his organs. He requires daily care. It has now been reported that Draper has suffered a heart attack, and is seriously ill in hospital.

Despite being in an out of hospital since his ordeal in 2020, Draper was at his wife's side, when Garraway collected her MBE in June, which she was awarded for her services to broadcasting, journalism, and charity from Britain's Prince of Wales at an investiture ceremony in Windsor Castle.

Several of Garraway's Good Morning Britain co-stars have shared messages of support since news of Draper's recent admission to hospital broke.

During the ITV morning programme on Monday, Charlotte Hawkins said, "We wanted to start with an update. You may have seen in the news over the weekend that Derek, Kate’s husband, is sadly in a very serious condition at the moment. It is indeed. Lots of love from all of us".

"We just want to let Derek, Kate and of course the whole family know we are all here thinking of them, and we know many of you are as well, and that all of us send them our very, very best wishes at what is a very, very difficult time", Richard Madeley added.

Kate Garraway has made several documentaries about her family's life, and caring for her husband, who continues to battle his long term effects of Covid-19.
