Margot Robbie has broken her silence for the first time since her snub for a Best Actress nomination at this year's Oscars ceremony.

Margot Robbie missed out on a Best Actress nod, while Barbie director Greta Gerwig was also snubbed for Best Director at the Oscars, while Ryan Gosling received a nomination for Best Actor, while America Ferrera was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

In a previous statement, Ryan Gosling was left bemused over Gerwig and Robbie's Oscars snubs for these major categories, calling them "very deserving nominees".

"But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film", Gosling said in his statement.

"Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history", he added. "Their work should be recognised along with the other very deserving nominees".

"blessed"

Despite missing out on an Oscar nod in the major categories, Margot Robbie insisted that "there's no way to feel sad when you know you're this blessed".

Margot Robbie also defended the film's director Greta Gerwig, who also missed out on the Best Director category.

"Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director," she said. "What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it's been an incredible year for all the films".

"We set out to do something that would shift culture, affect culture, just make some sort of impact, and it's already done that and some, way more than we ever dreamed it would".

"That is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this".

Elsewhere, Margot Robbie stated that she was "beyond ecstatic" that Barbie received eight Oscar nominations overall, including the Best Actor nod for her co-star Gosling.

However, despite missing out in the Best Actress category, Margot Robbie was still recognised for Best Picture as Producer.
