Police have confirmed that US actor Charlie Sheen was attacked at his luxury home in Malibu.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department have said in a statement that they arrested a woman, after officers were called to Sheen's home for a "battery/disturbance".

“Upon contacting the parties involved, deputies identified Charlie Sheen as a victim of assault”, a statement said.

The suspect in question, is a woman named Electra Schrock, one of Sheen's neighbours, who police have confirmed has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, force likely to cause injury, and residential burglary.

Several media outlets have reported that Schrock "forced her way into his home, and attacked him when he opened the door". They also revealed that "she ripped Charlie’s shirt and attempted to strangle him”.

Charlie Sheen was treated at the scene by paramedics, but was not taken to hospital. This is also not the first incident to have taken place between Sheen and his neighbours, with media outlets reporting of another confrontation led to a sticky liquid being squirted on the actor's car.

Having starred in Two and a Half Men, Sheen has also been credited for TV roles like 'Spin City', as well as staring in movies 'Platoon', 'Young Guns', and 'Wall Street', alongside his father Martin Sheen.
