Shannon Airport have ended the 100ml restriction on liquids in hand luggage.
This comes following changes made to security screening processes which were announced on Monday, coming into effect immediately. They follow an investment from Shannon Airport's screening process for security and technology and upgraded elements of its 3D C3 scanners, which were first installed at the airport in 2021.
The airport have now replaced that with a new two litre (2,000ml) limit, with passengers now having the luxury of departing from Shannon with the ability to bring liquids, aerosols and gels in containers up to two litres in their hand luggage.
This new system eases the passenger experience by removing the need for travellers to take liquids, gels, aerosols and electronic devices including laptops out of cabins bags when passing through security.
It has already transformed the passenger experience by reducing touchpoints and helping to make the journey through security more productive.
"This is excellent news for our passengers and enables us to maintain the highest security standards while making the journey through Shannon Airport even easier," said Pat O'Brien, Shannon Airport Police, Fire Service and Security chief officer said.
"Passengers have already enjoyed the convenience of leaving liquids, gels, aerosols, and electronic devices in their hand luggage when passing through security at Shannon. The change announced today takes that convenience to the next level, giving passengers greater flexibility and peace of mind when packing for their trip".

Huge upgrades have also been carried out at the MidWest Hub this year, which include an upgrade worth up to €15 million for the arrivals halls at the terminal building taking place, part of a €40 million investment to the airport.
Upgrades have also been carried out at the immigration and baggage halls, while airport bosses have said that refurbishments will reduce queues and streamline passenger movement. Such changes include a new entrance for European passengers.
This will help to facilitate the terminal's transition to electric heat pump technology and new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
