Galway Gardai Arrest Two Drivers Speeding At 195kmh On Dual Carriageway

Two drivers in Galway are facing court after speeding at 195km/h on a dual carriageway.

Gardai arrested the two drivers after spotting them overtaking on double white lines and bends between Kilcolgan and Clarinbridge on Monday, August 31st.

The two drivers were pulled over and arrested on the spot and are now set to face court.

An Garda Siochana Galway said according to The Independent: “Two drivers caught overtaking on double white lines and bends between Kilcolgan and Clarinbridge - hitting speeds over 110 kmh entering the village and topping 195 kmh on the dual carriageway. Both were stopped, arrested, and are now facing court.”

In August, Gardai in Galway City carried out a targeted operation. Seven e-scooters were seized, Fixed Charge Notices were issued for a number of offences with traffic light offences among the most common. It was also detected that there was use of pedestrianised areas and footpaths.

Gardai found one e-scooter that was capable of travelling at 74km/h despite the 20km/h limit.
