Gardaí have launched an investigation after shots were fired at residential properties in Limerick during a daylight shooting that is believed to be connected to an ongoing local feud.
The incident happened on Childers Road at around 3pm on Monday, when two masked men allegedly discharged a firearm in the area.
No injuries were reported and, as of the latest update, no arrests have been made specifically in connection with the shooting.
The incident is understood to have been recorded on camera, with footage subsequently circulated on social media.
The shooting follows a weekend of disorder in the area, amid heightened tensions linked to an ongoing feud.
On Sunday evening, around 40 masked men reportedly gathered close to a halting site, with some allegedly carrying weapons and other implements including firearms, slash hooks, hurleys, shovels, golf clubs, iron bars and sticks.
Further public order incidents were reported in the same area during the early hours of Monday.
Gardaí responding to that disorder arrested two men, aged in their 20s and 30s. Both have since been charged and are expected to appear before the courts.
A male juvenile was also arrested during the earlier incidents and has been referred to the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.
Local journalist David Raleigh has reported that the Childers Road shooting is believed to be connected to the wider feud.
Investigating Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who was in the area between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Monday and may have witnessed suspicious activity.
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from motorists or members of the public who may have captured the incident or its aftermath on dashcam or mobile phone footage.
