Limerick: Arrest Made After €643,000 Worth Of Drugs Seized

A man in his 30s has been arrested after €643,000 worth of drugs seized in Co Limerick.

Gardaí have seized €643,000 worth of drugs in Co Limerick today.

Cannabis, cocaine, and prescription tablets were found during the search of a house in the Annacotty area earlier today.

Gardaí have also seized cash from the home.

Gardaí say the search was part of an investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the region.

The investigation has been named Operation Tara which has the goal of protecting communities from the scourge of illegal drugs.

The focus of Operation Tara is to "disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels – international, national, local – involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs."

The man in his 30s was arrested during the search, he was detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, is to appear before Limerick District Court later this afternoon.
