Two men are due to appear before Limerick District Court this morning in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in the city early last Friday.
At around 5:00 am on Friday, 6th June, gardaí responded to reports of gunshots and a disturbance at a residential property in the Thomondgate area of Limerick. On arrival, officers discovered damage to the exterior wall of the building, and several shotgun casings were found at the scene.
The area was sealed off and underwent a full technical and forensic examination. Follow-up searches of nearby homes and outdoor areas led to the discovery of a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition, and items of clothing believed to be linked to the incident.
Two men, both in their 30s, were arrested and detained at a Garda station in County Limerick under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
They have since been charged and are expected to appear in court today. Gardaí say investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
