The town of Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo was left in shock following a late night break-in at a local , which saw several electrical items stolen.
This happened after Mobile Ink Store was broken into, just before midnight on September 9, which saw several electrical items being taken, with photos taken from the scene showing the premises' front window completely smashed, with boxes of popular electrical items including tablets all over the street.
Following this, the owner took to social media to reveal what happened, as well as appealing for witnesses. He also said that the culprits are on security footage, which has been handed over to the Gardaí investigating the case.
"Good morning. Last night between 11.40 and 12.30, the Mobile Ink store was broken into. It's a request to anyone passing through during those times; please contact Ballyhaunis Garda Station", the post read.
A spokesperson for the Gardaí said: "Gardaí responded to a report of a burglary at a commercial premises on Main Street, Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, which occurred at around 11:35pm on 9th September 2026."
"A number of electrical items were stolen. Investigations are ongoing".
A number of people have also taken to social media to wish the shopkeeper well, and offer whatever help they can.
"Oh, I really hope they get the scum that did this. Shahid Mahmood is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, always a friendly word, and if he can help you, he will; he goes above and beyond", one person wrote.
Another added: "So sorry to see this awful crime inflicted upon you. Have found you all so helpful and accommodating I hope the culprits are held accountable". (All quotes according to Galway Beo).
