According to a new poll, 'Fairytale Of New York' has been named as Britain's favourite Christmas track.
This poll was taken by YouGov, who revealed that The Pogues' much loved collaboration with Kirsty McColl was number one, with 19% of the vote. The song finished ahead of Wham!s' 'Last Christmas', which had 13% of the vote.
The list also saw Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' with 7% of the vote, with Slade's 'Merry Christmas Everybody', Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas' and Chris Rea's 'Driving Home For Christmas' having 5% of the vote each.
The survey also conducted a poll on traditional hymns with 'Silent Night' coming out on top with 28% of the vote. The song's peaceful melody was the part that swung it for the British voters. Other songs featuring in the chart included 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing' with 7%, followed by 'Away in a Manger' (6%), and both 'O Come All Ye Faithful' and 'In the Bleak Midwinter' rounding out the top five with 5% each.
Another survey saw YouGov look at Britain's favourite Christmas film. with the iconic Home Alone coming out on top here, with 19% of the British vote. The Bruce Willis starred Die Hard ranked in second place with 11% of the vote.
Other films mentioned include Will Ferrell's Elf, with 9%, while Love Actually and It's A Wonderful Life grabbed 6-7% of the vote, while 'The Holiday,' 'The Muppet Christmas Carol,' and other Dickens' adaptations, all chosen by 5% of participants.
