Bonnie Tyler "remains seriously ill", but stable after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery, it has been confirmed.

This comes after the Total Eclipse Of The Heart singer, was rushed to hospital near her home in Faro, Portugal last week for surgery. She was then placed into an induced coma to help her recovery.

At the time, a spokesperson for the singer said:  "Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to".

Now, a spokesperson has confirmed that Tyler "remains seriously ill" but is stable.

"As of this morning, Bonnie remains seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro. However, her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery", the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson also added that the singer's family have been left upset by the many "lurid and untrue rumours" circulating, adding that they ask for "privacy and decency at this difficult time".

Bonnie Tyler is due to embark on a European tour later this year, celebrating 50 years since the release of her breakthrough hit, Lost In France in 1976, which hit the charts across Europe.

Along with Total Eclipse Of The Heart, Tyler has also released hits,  Holding Out for a Hero and If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man).
