Justin Timberlake has announced that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
The singer confirmed this news on social media, saying that the disease "can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically". He shared this news in a post where he also commemorated with his Forget Tomorrow Tour, which finished in Turkey on Wednesday.
Describing himself as a private person, Justin Timberlake added that he considered ending the tour following his diagnosis, writing that he "decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I’m so glad I kept going".
"I honestly don’t know what my future is onstage, but I’ll always cherish this run! And all of them before! It’s been the stuff of legend for me".
Transmitted by Ixodes ticks, Lyme disease can cause flu like conditions, neurological problems, joint pain and other symptoms. Most of the time, it can be treated with antibiotics.
Back in March, the former NSync singer cancelled shows due to a battle with flu.
“You guys. I’m heartbroken,” the singer wrote on Instagram.
“I have to cancel the show tonight. I went into soundcheck battling the flu and now it’s gotten the best of me. It kills me to disappoint you and my team worked so hard to make this show happen. I want to reassure you, you’ll be getting refunds for your tickets. I love you all". More on this here.
