Michael Bublé has said that his new album will be a "love letter to country music".

The Canadian singer has said that fans can expect a completely different sound with this album, having fallen in love with country music and the community. Bublé's last studio album, Higher, arrived in 2022.

Bublé revealed this to Billboard at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas over the weekend.

“We’re making a record. It’s my love letter to country music", he said. “When I was on The Voice, Reba [McEntire] would sit next to me and she’d look at my phone, and Kelsea [Ballerini], and my whole playlist was Hank Williams and Willie [Nelson]".

"Literally, it was Reba. She was like, ‘Really?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, this is jazz", he said.

“I never thought it, but when I played the Opry for the first time, I realised that this community - we sort of share a lot of the same values - and I had to be a bigger part of it".

"love letter"

Speaking what fans can expect from this album, Bublé said: “It’s a love letter to the history of country music, to the writers, to the singers".

“For me, there was so much in common when I looked at people I love like Nat King Cole and Frank [Sinatra], Dean [Martin]", he added. "Literally, it’s not that different. Wonderful storytellers, incredible musicianship, and again, a community of people who love music and lift each other up".

In another interview, Michael Bublé joked that his upcoming run of Summer outdoor shows in the UK and Ireland could lead to a baby boom. He quipped that the population of each city he visits may "double" after his shows as the sheer magic of an outdoor show effectively does the matchmaking for him.

“I like to call them Bublé-bies", Bublé joked. “It’s so romantic … you’re under the stars, swaying, having a couple of glasses of wine - it’s an aphrodisiac".

Prior to signing up as a judge on The Voice, Michael Bublé admitted that he turned down the chance to work on the show on several occasions, as "most of the singers are better than" him.
