Niall Horan has confirmed that his new album is now "done", and has shared a snippet of music with the fans.

The former One Direction revealed this news via social media, writing that his "album is done", as well as a little snippet of a song played on piano.

Earlier this month, the Mullingar native spoken about his new collaboration with Myles Smith, 'Drive Safe'.

"I'm in here finishing it right now. So I'm in the beat lab!", Horan said. "Fans won't have to wait much longer for a first taste of the new era, as Niall teased: "I'm just finishing off some vocal bits and things like that, that I wasn't happy with, but yeah! I should have music some time this year. And I'm very excited about it!".

He added: "It's tough when someone asks you to do this because, it's very close to his heart, something like very serious to him. And for me to then come and write the rest of it with him was obviously a tall ask". More on this here.

Now, Horan has confirmed on social media his fourth studio album is "done".

Previously, Niall Horan spoke of the creative chemistry he struck up when working with Myles Smith.

"Then we just met up and we said we'd see what happened and we're in the studio together and it just, it clicked," Niall said. "It meant something to me, and it meant something completely different to him and that's the great thing about these kinds of things", he said. More here.

Elsewhere, Horan also thanked the fans of his former band One Direction for their support when he began his career.

He said: "We had this thing the whole way through our career, and I still have it now, where we're just happy to be anywhere,” he said. “I look out at these arenas full of people and think, this would literally be an empty room if you didn’t buy tickets. You have to hold onto that feeling. If you lose gratitude, you're done. That mindset kept us grounded from day one, and it still keeps me grounded now".
