Samantha Mumba has said that the song contest to choose Ireland's Eurovision entry should not be hosted by the Late Late Show.

In a recent interview with Brendan O'Connor, the singer said that the show is not quite the best venue to host the song contest, with Mumba saying that it "deserves its own [show]' and 'ideally' should be in a venue that is 'set up, even sound-wise, for musicians".

She added: "Because I don't think [a television studio] is the set-up".

This comes after Mumba criticised the Eurosong judging panel, before going onto state that she was a "bit surprised" at the coverage her comments received.  The singer was critical of the panel, which included Arthur Gourounlian, Laura Fox, Donal Skehan, and singer Bambi Thug.

Mumba missed out on the chance to represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision, coming second in the overall standings, losing out to Emmy and her entry, Laika Party.
