Neil Young is suing Donald Trump's political action committee, Trump 47 Committee Inc for $10 million (£7.5 million).

The country music star is suing the US President's committee, in a lawsuit which alleges copyright infringement over Trump's continued use of Young's track, 'Rockin in the Free World' as his walk-up music at the mid term election rallies.

The suit specifically refers to the play of Young's 1989 track at the US President's rally in Youngstown, Ohio on October 12, but stated that the song has also been played "numerous times at other rallies designed to encourage Republican votes in the upcoming mid-term elections".

This marks the second time that Young has filed a lawsuit against Trump over the unlicensed use of Rockin in the Free World, having previously filed in a suit in 2020, which was eventually settled.

This latest suit has claimed that Donald Trump has continued to use the song, which goes against the terms of the previous settlement, calling it "a blistering anthem that contrasts the hollow promises of American political rhetoric with the harsh realities faced by the poor, homeless and forgotten. In short, the song is the opposite of everything that Donald J. Trump stands for".

The suit asks for an injunction against any further performances of the song in public for political gains, as well as seeking $10 million for the existing use of the song.

News of this comes more than a week after Katie Zacharia, left her role as press secretary to US President Donald Trump, after just five days in the role, having come under the microscope regarding her claims that she was a lawyer, and bad reviews from her first press conference.

Mr Trump, who asked Ms Zacharia to reconsider her position, also claimed that she was treated "so nasty" by some corners of the media, and insisted that he only wanted her to be "happy". He added that she had told him the job as "a lot tougher", but he would "let her make that decision" regarding her future. More on this story here.

Elsewhere, Donald Trump had said that he was keen to begin three discussions over arms control with the leaders of Russia and China next month. You can read more on this story v.
