Spandau Ballet have shared a previously unreleased track 'Eyes', as they celebrate their forthcoming box set .
The track itself, is available to stream, having been part of the band's original set list at the famous Blitz Club. This box set, Everything Is Now - Vol 1: 1978-1982 is to be released via Parlophone on September 12.
The nine disc collection features Spandau Ballet's iconic first two albums, as well as other unreleased material. This new track was recorded at Halligan's rehearsal studio, the same studio that future journalist Robert Elms christened name Spandau Ballet, having been initially known as Gentry.
'Eyes' will feature on the 'Demos' section of the box set, including a preview into the band's gothic, post punk sound before they established themselves as a major force in the New Romantic Movement.
It was shared by bandmember Gary Kemp, who said that the song "is kind of gothic post punk", which was an important part of the early sound of Spandau Ballet. He also added that musician and producer Richard Burgess also felt the song was not right for their debut album. But the release of this track shares an intriguing into the band's creative evolution.
This box set's arrival coincides with a new exhibition at London's Design Museum, Blitz: The Club That Shaped The 80s, which will open on September 20, exploring the influence of the Soho nightclub when the band first burst onto the music scene.
