Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu has confirmed that he underwent treatment for early stage prostate cancer.
Taking to X, Netanyahu insisted that he is "in excellent physical condition" after his annual medical report was submitted, revealing that he had a malignant tumour removed. This tumour was discovered during a routine medical check up.
The Israel leader said that he underwent the initial surgery for an enlarged benign prostate in 2024, and has been under constant medical supervision, before "a tiny spot of less than a centimetre" was discovered.
He had reportedly called for the publication of his health report to be delayed, so it was not released at the height of the US and Israel's war with Iran, to prevent Tehran from spreading "even more false propaganda against Israel".
Mr Netanyahu has said that treatment had "removed the problem and left no trace of it".
"I had a minor medical issue with my prostate that was completely treated. Thank God, it's behind me", he said.
Mr Netanyahu went on to say that he decided to undergo the medical procedure because "when I'm given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately".
He continued: "This is true on the national level and also on the personal level".

The news regarding Benjamin Netanyahu comes ahead of his planned visit to the White House in the next few weeks, as the US looks to secure a long lasting deal in the ongoing conflict with Iran.
It also comes as Israel's ceasefire agreement with Lebanon was extended by three weeks, following fighting between Israel and an Iran backed Hezbollah.
