Connemara in Co Galway has been revealed as the most Instagrammed location in Ireland, according to new research by Virgin Media Ireland. The study analysed hundreds of thousands of tagged Instagram posts from the country’s most visited landmarks to determine which destinations are generating the biggest social-media buzz.
With 826,000 Instagram posts, Connemara secured the top spot thanks to its dramatic mountains, sweeping coastline and celebrated national park — a combination that continues to captivate visitors from around the world. Close behind in second place is the Cliffs of Moher, with 785,253 tagged posts, maintaining its reputation as one of Ireland’s most photographed natural wonders.
Dublin’s Temple Bar ranked third with 716,800 posts, making it the nation’s most-shared urban location, as tourists continue to flock to its iconic pubs and cobbled streets. Wicklow also performed strongly. Glendalough took fourth place with 284,700 posts, while the Ring of Kerry rounded out the top five at 273,979 posts, cementing both as favourite destinations for scenic escapes.
Other well-known hotspots to feature in the top tier of the ranking include Phoenix Park, the Guinness Storehouse, the Dingle Peninsula, and the colourful harbour town of Cobh, all of which contributed to Ireland’s top 10 most Instagrammable places.
