Mel C has ruled out a Spice Girls 30th anniversary reunion this year, but has assured fans that the group still "want to do something".
Prior to this, the singer had teased a possible Spice Girls reunion featuring Victoria Beckham, having said that she needs to "have that experience" on stage. The last time the group performed together was at the closing ceremony for the London Olympics in 2012.
“Well, this is the thing", Mel C said previously, before going on to suggest that Victoria would love to sing in front of large crowds again: “So, she has to have that experience". More on this story here.
But now, speaking to Australian radio show, The Smallzy Show, Mel C has announced that there is "no reunion" planned with the bandmates, including Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell-Horner.
Despite this, Mel C did say that the group were “communicating all the time”, adding: “We want to do something. Who knows when, but I still feel very optimistic, and I keep my fingers crossed that you will see the Spice Girls together at some point in the future".
Any reunion show this year would have marked 30 years since they released their debut smash hit, 'Wannabe'.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the group would be honoured with a special commemorative coin to celebrate their 30th anniversary. It was launched by by Royal Mint, who have added the band to their Music Legends Hall of Fame.
The coin was described as In partnership with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s brand management and merchandise division, The Royal Mint worked closely with the band to carefully curate a design that celebrates the incredible legacy of The Spice Girls".
