Met Éireann have forecasted cooler temperatures for the weekend before the heat returns next week.
However, Met Éireann have issued a new yellow high temperature warning for nine counties on Friday.
The high temperature warning is issued from 1pm until 8pm on Friday for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.
Temperatures are set to ease slightly for Munster and Leinster after Friday with highs of 22 to 26 degrees expected.
Ulster and Connacht will be cooler, as temperatures are expected to range from 16 to 21 degrees.
Temperatures are expected to be cooler on Sunday as the highest temperatures will range between 20 to 24 degrees, according to Met Éireann.
The maximum temperatures will be in excess of 27 degrees, according to the forecaster.
They added that the potential safety impacts include water safety issues due to the increased use of beaches and lakes, heat stress, forest fires, and drought.
From today, Uisce Éireann have issued a six week hosepipe ban. They have confirmed that a Water Conservation Order will be in place for Dublin, South Tipperary. This also includes parts of Kildare, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow.
The hosepipe ban remains in place from midnight today (Thursday), July 16th until until 23:59 on Wednesday, August 26.
Areas in the north and northwest will experience cooler conditions from Friday, as there is a "change to a northerly airflow," according to the forecaster. Highest temperatures in these areas will reach up to 17 to 20 degrees.
Met Éireann predict that temperatures will cool further on Sunday, with temperatures reaching 20 to 24 degrees and even cooler in the north and northwest.
Met Éireann meteorologist Ailís Hankinson confirmed that they expect hot conditions to remain throughout next week. She said: “So there is the potential for those temperatures to stay above average and for this hot spell, while it will take a dip at the weekend, to stick around through next week, with very little rainfall on the cards."
