A man and woman have both appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court after being accused of stealing a pygmy goat.
This comes as 28 year old Sally Ann Finnegan, and 20 year old Willy McDonagh were both charged with the theft of a three-week-old pygmy goat on 15 June last year. The animal is said to be of "of unknown value, belonging to Tannaghmore Animal Farm".
At the time of the incident, the PSNI posted on social media, where they outlined how the goat was stolen from Tannaghmore Animal Farm in Co Armagh, but had been safely recovered and reunited with its mother.
"Following enquiries by officers, two suspects were identified, arrested and subsequently charged to court for theft," the post read at the time, "we're delighted to see this little one back where it belongs. Thank you to everyone who assisted with the investigation".
Mr McDonagh, who is from Molesworth Street in Cookstown, and Ms Finnegan of Enniskeen in Craigavon, confirmed in court that they understood the charge, as a police officer gave their evidence that the pair could be connected with the offence.
Speaking in court, counsel for the prosecution said that they had applied for a four week adjournment, adding that there were fears for the baby goat's safety, as it was still being fed from its mother at the time.
Deputy District Judge, Joe Rice described this as an "unusual case", but freed the pair on bail, adjourning the case until August 7.
