A plane crash in the north of France has killed 11 people.
The plane which was owned by a parachutist school crashed near Nancy at around 11 am. 10 parachutists, 5 students and 5 instructors, and the pilot died.
The crash narrowly missed nearby homes instead landing on a bicycle path.
The crash has been described as "an absolute tragedy," by the Mayor of Tromblaine where the crash occurred.
It is believed that some of the victims had been gifted the skydiving experience as a present.
It is currently unclear what caused the crash at this stage however it is believed to be a malfunction. Eyewitness's have described the plane that "fell almost vertically". Others have described the sounds which could have been the engine stopping in midair.
Emergency services responded immediately with 25 vehicles and 50 firefighters being deployed.
A forensic team is currently investigating the incident.
