A teenage boy has tragically died after cycling into a parked lorry in Co Waterford, Gardaí have confirmed.
It is understood that the young boy was cycling a bike when he hit the lorry along the N72 in Ballygane, Lismore, Co Waterford. The incident happened shortly after 11am yesterday morning, according to Gardaí.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured in the incident.
It was also reported that the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was then taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post mortem is to be conducted. The road has since been reopened having closed earlier for a technical examination to take place.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward. They have also asked any road users who have dash-cam footage of the road between Lismore and Cappoquin, between 10.30am and 11.15 am to make it available.

News of this comes after Gardaí had issued a new appeal for any information in connection with the death of Co Armagh man, Terence McKeever, whose body was found near the Mullaghduff Bridge, Cullyhanna in June 1986. More on this story here.
