ABBA Pay Tribute To Late Guitarist Lasse Wellander

ABBA have paid tribute to their late guitarist Lasse Wellander.

Wellander who featured on seven of the band's nine studio albums, passed away last Friday after battling cancer aged 70.

Following this sad news, ABBA consisting of bandmates Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Anderson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog released this statement. 

"Lasse was a dear friend, a fun guy and a superb guitarist. The importance of his creative input in the recording studio as well as his rock-solid guitar work on stage was immense", they wrote.  "We mourn his tragic and premature death and remember the kind words, the sense of humour, the smiling face, the musical brilliance of the man who played such an integral role in the ABBA story". 

They added, "He will be deeply missed and never forgotten". 

Lasse Wellander also featured on ABBA's 2021 comeback album 'Voyage',
