Aer Lingus has once again shown its support for Ireland's finest film stars, as Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley was flown from Dublin Airport to LA, ahead of this weekend's Academy Awards.

This comes as the Kerry native received a nod for Best Actress at the 98th Academy Awards, following her performance in the Chloe Zhao directed, Hamnet. This year has already seen Buckley win and Actor Award and BAFTA in the same category. More on this here.

The red carpet was rolled out for Buckley's family, including her parents, Marina and Tim Buckley, as well as her sister, Lily, as they boarded the flight EI069 directly to Los Angeles. Aer Lingus currently has six flights per week from Dublin to Los Angles, increasing to daily service during the Summer.

The airline even features onboard entertainment, including a selection of Oscar nominated films, like Bugoria, and One Battle After Another.

Along with Buckley, other Irish nominees were also flown to LA by Aer Lingus, after they flew fellow nominees John Kelly and Andrew Freedman after their film, Retirement Plan which were nominated for Best Animated Short.

Speaking about this, the airline have stated that they are honoured to connect Ireland's creative community with Hollywood at such a key moment for the industry.

“Aer Lingus takes great pride in supporting Ireland’s film talent as they make their way to Hollywood for the Academy Awards. These are milestone moments, not only for the nominees themselves, but for their families and for Ireland. It is a privilege to play our part in such a special chapter for Irish film. We wish Jessie, the Retirement Plan team, and all of the Irish nominees and creatives attending this year’s awards the very best of luck", Donal Moriarty, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Aer Lingus said.

Aer Lingus have also said that they are to increase their North American network to 24 routes from Ireland, including places like Pittsburgh, and Raleigh-Durham.

Earlier this week, Irish actor Barry Keoghan claimed that Jessie Buckley's performance in Hamnet, left him "crying". More on this story here.

Should she prove successful Jessie Buckley would become the first Irish woman to win an Oscar in this category.
