A man who confronted Ariana Grande at a Wicked: For Good red carpet premiere, has been jailed for public nuisance.
This happened last Thursday at Universal Studios in Signapore, which saw a man, named Johnson Wen jump over a barricade, before rushing towards Grande, and wrapping his arms around her, jumping up and down. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo came to Grande's aid, helping to push the man away. He was later removed by security.
Australian prankster named Johnson Wen, who is also known as pyjamamann on social media, had later shared the incident on his Instagram account, where he wrote: “Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me jump on the Yellow Carpet with you".
Wen was later charged for public nuisance in a Singaporean court after the incident, and has been sentenced to nine days in jail after pleading guilty to causing annoyance to the public and creating a public nuisance.
In court, Deputy Public Prosecutor Jane Lim had said that Wen was a “serial intruder” that has a “glaring lack of remorse”. Wen said in mitigation: “I won’t do it again, your honour".
District Judge Christopher Goh had said that Wen had committed similar offences, showing a lack of remorse after "brazenly" posting that he was "free" after being arrested.
Previously, Johnson Wen had also rushed at Chainsmokers and Katy Perry concerts, as well as a Weeknd show in Melbourne. He also caused disturbances at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Wicked: For Good is to hit cinema screens on Friday (November 21).
