The BBC have confirmed that Peaky Blinders will return for two new series.

The broadcaster confirmed that these new series will focus on a "new generation of Shelbys", picking up after the events of the forthcoming feature movie which will be filmed at Digbeth Loc Studios in Birmingham. Starring Barry Keoghan and Cillian Murphy, the spin off movie finished filming in December last year. It is unclear if Oscar winning actor Murphy will return for the new series.

The episodes of this new series will be set in the city, with events taking place in 1953, when Birmingham is building a future from concrete and steel after World Ward II.

"I'm thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story", creator and writer Steven Knight said. "Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz".

"The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride".

Reports of a new series of Peaky Blinders were first filed back in April, with the BBC saying that creator Steven Knight was working on a new season. More on this here.
