The actor, 64, and his wife were watching as Novak Djokovic took on Italian Flavio Cobolli in their quarter final second on Centre Court on Wednesday.
They were sitting in the Royal Box, considered the most prestigious seats at the tournament at the All England Lawn Tennis Club as they are strictly invite only for royalty and celebs.
Grant was seen chatting to Queen Camilla who was sitting in front of him before the match kicked off. Shortly after the star was filmed slumping over in his sunglasses, appearing to nod off and take a nap. The clip has gone viral with a wave of hilarious comments being made online.
On X, one person wrote 'Hugh Grant's asleep in the Royal Box' alongside a string of laughing emojis while a second wrote ‘Not convinced Hugh Grant is awake. Can someone check on him as he’s a National treasure.’
Other amusing remarks included 'Someone wake up Hugh Grant, dude is out cold' and observing the actor was having a 'Nodding Hill' moment, a clever nod to one of his most famous movies Notting Hill.
Even BBC Sport could not resist, tweeting: 'It's all got a bit too much for Hugh Grant.'
The match, which saw Djokovic surpassing Roger Federer’s record for most Wimbledon men’s semi-final appearances, resulted in the Serb beating Italy’s Cobolli in four sets. The 38 year old is now set to take on Jannik Sinner in the Semi Final on Centre Court tomorrow.
