Kristen Bell has dismissed reports claiming she is set to earn $60 million for the next two instalments of Disney’s blockbuster Frozen franchise, calling the figure “absurd”.

Rumours recently circulated online suggesting Bell — who voices Princess Anna — had secured an eye-watering payday for the upcoming sequels. But speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actress was quick to shut the speculation down.

“That's somebody making a lot of things up,” she said.

However, Bell did acknowledge that the franchise has been enormously successful and that she feels fortunate to be part of it.

“That said, am I happy to have that job and does it pay very well, because it's a very successful franchise? Yes! And I'm so grateful for it, and I will continue to do it for the rest of my life if they'll have me.”

The numbers behind Frozen certainly explain why salary rumours can spiral so dramatically. The original Frozen, released in 2013, became a global phenomenon. It grossed approximately $1.28 billion worldwide, making it at the time the highest-grossing animated film in history. Its cultural impact was equally massive, with songs like “Let It Go” dominating charts and school talent shows alike.

The sequel, Frozen II, released six years later in 2019, went on to surpass its predecessor at the box office, earning around $1.45 billion globally. That figure cemented it as one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time and confirmed the enduring appetite for the story of sisters Anna and Elsa.

Given those figures — a combined global haul of over $2.7 billion across the first two films — it’s easy to see why reports about massive cast salaries gain traction. Major animated franchises often renegotiate voice actors’ contracts following runaway success, though exact figures are rarely confirmed publicly.

A third film, Frozen 3, is currently in development and is slated for release in 2027, with a fourth instalment also in early planning stages. Disney has yet to confirm detailed plot points, but the franchise’s expansion reflects both its commercial power and multi-generational fan base.

Bell has voiced Anna since the beginning, starring alongside Idina Menzel as Elsa, Josh Gad as Olaf and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff. Beyond the films, the franchise has expanded into short films, a Broadway musical, merchandise empires and theme park attractions.

Away from Arendelle, Bell has built a varied career across television and film. She first rose to prominence in teen noir drama Veronica Mars before cementing her mainstream status in comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and NBC’s The Good Place. In recent years, she has balanced acting with producing and voice work, while also co-founding consumer brands.

In the meantime, Bell has been busy on another high-profile stage. She recently hosted the Screen Actors Guild Awards, often referred to as the SAG Awards, and used the opportunity to thank her family for their support.

“I have an excellent support system. My husband and my kids are very, very supportive of my hopes and dreams,” she said, referring to actor and podcast host Dax Shepard and their daughters, Lincoln and Delta. “And I'm also supportive of theirs!”

Bell and Shepard, who married in 2013, are known for their candid discussions about marriage and parenting, often speaking openly about therapy and communication.

While the reported $60 million payday may be exaggerated, there’s no doubt that Frozen remains one of Disney’s most lucrative modern franchises — and that Bell’s voice is central to its continued success. Whether or not the salary speculation ever quietens down, she appears more than happy to keep returning to the kingdom of Arendelle for years to come.
