Mýa has sparked fresh excitement around a possible reunion of the iconic Lady Marmalade line-up, revealing she is still close with her former collaborators as the track approaches its 25th anniversary.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the singer was shown a throwback clip from the 2001 VMAs, at the height of what the outlet described as her “Lady Marmalade era.” Looking back, Mýa laughed at her younger self, admitting: “It was quite out of place,” referring to her hairstyle in the interview.
Originally recorded for Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, Lady Marmalade brought together an all-star line-up including Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Lil' Kim and Mýa herself.
A reimagining of the 1970s classic by Labelle, the track became a global phenomenon upon release, topping charts worldwide and winning a GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
Its high-budget, Moulin Rouge-inspired music video — complete with corsets, theatrical staging and bold visuals — became one of the defining pop culture moments of the early 2000s.
The success of Lady Marmalade also coincided with a major turning point for each of the artists involved.
Aguilera was in the middle of reinventing her image ahead of her Stripped era, P!nk was transitioning from R&B beginnings into the edgier pop-rock sound that would define her career, while Lil’ Kim was already a dominant force in hip-hop.
For Mýa, who had already built a solid solo career with hits like Case of the Ex, the collaboration cemented her place among the leading female artists of the time and introduced her to a wider global audience.
More than two decades on, the track still resonates — something Mýa highlighted when discussing her recent performances. “I literally just performed 'Lady Marmalade' at the Kia Forum with Lil' Kim for Valentine's Day. It was electric,” she said, underlining the song’s enduring appeal with live audiences.
Importantly, the relationships behind the scenes have also endured. When asked if she still keeps in touch with her collaborators, Mýa confirmed: “I do. Christina and I actually performed at LA Pride a couple of years ago. Kim and I have done several performances since then. Pink actually wrote a song on one of my albums 'Moodring' called 'Take A Picture.'” That continued collaboration has fuelled speculation that a full reunion may be more than just wishful thinking.

And with the 25th anniversary looming in 2026, the idea of the four artists reuniting is gaining momentum. When asked directly if it could happen, Mýa didn’t shut it down.
Instead, she teased: “Fingers crossed.” Pressed further, she remained tight-lipped, adding: “Shhhhhh. I can't say anything,” before acknowledging the demand, saying “I think many, many fans would be highly pleased.”
She even has a venue in mind should it happen, pointing to one of the most talked-about performance spaces in the world right now: “I would love to do it in the Sphere in Las Vegas.”
A reunion in such a setting would mark a full-circle moment for a song that was always rooted in spectacle and theatricality.
Since the height of Lady Marmalade, Mýa has continued to build a diverse career across music, film and television.
Beyond releasing multiple independent albums — including Moodring, which featured contributions from P!nk — she has maintained a steady touring presence and appeared in projects such as Chicago, further showcasing her versatility as a performer.
While no official reunion has been confirmed, the combination of ongoing collaborations, milestone timing and clear fan demand means the possibility is very real.
If it does happen, it won’t just be a nostalgia moment — it will be a celebration of one of the most influential pop collaborations of its era, and the artists who helped define it.
