Letterboxd has revealed its newly updated Top 100 Films Ranked by Women, a list determined by which movies have the highest number of “fans” from members who use “she/her” as their pronouns. On Letterboxd, this type of ranking is built entirely from users' personal taste rather than ratings, box office or critical consensus.
The 2025 results give a fascinating look at what women on the platform are embracing. And while some evergreen favourites remain near the top, the list also shows a generational shift.
Below are the Top 20 films on the 2025 list.
Dead Poets Society (1989)
La La Land (2016)
Little Women (2019)
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Interstellar (2014)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Coraline (2009)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
Call Me By Your Name (2017)
Howl’s Moving Castle (2004)
Black Swan (2010)
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Mamma Mia! The Movie (2008)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
Spirited Away (2001)
Lady Bird (2017)
Before Sunrise (1995)
Whiplash (2014)
The list clearly leans toward films driven by emotion, character and coming-of-age storytelling — from Little Women and Lady Bird to The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Dead Poets Society. Animation also features strongly, with Coraline, Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away all securing top-20 placements, while modern cult favourites like Everything Everywhere All at Once and Fantastic Mr. Fox show the lasting power of stylistic, inventive filmmaking.
Because the ranking is built entirely from voluntary user favourites, it reflects genuine affection rather than algorithmic visibility — which is why titles like Before Sunrise or Whiplash continue to chart highly even years after release.
