Liam Neeson has called making The Naked Gun reboot with co star Pamela Anderson "joyful".
The sequel sees Neeson star as bumbling Police Squad, Frank Drebin Jr, son of legend Leslie Nielson's detective from the original three movies. Elsewhere, Pamela Anderson stars as femme fatale Beth Davenport, who becomes involved with Neeson's character, while investigating her brother's mysterious death.
The pair appeared at the Naked Gun premiere in New York, alongside their sons Dylan Jagger Lee, Brandon Thomas Lee, Daniel Neeson, and Micheál Neeson.
On collaborating with Anderson, Neeson said: "That was really hard to do, to act together".
At the premiere, Anderson added: "It was so much fun. It was such a great project, and what a great way to get to know somebody and laugh every day, just know that you're contributing to something funny".
When asked if they had ever wondered what they had gotten themselves into with this comedy, Neeson explained: "There was a few of those, yeah. But it was all still joyful".
"It was fun to be part of something that was just schoolboy humour, schoolgirl humour, and just have a few laughs", Anderson said. "Everyone likes to have those belly laughs and be silly. I think laughter is medicine, and I think it's much needed".
This comes amid reports that Anderson and Neeson were officially an item. More on this here.
The Naked Gun is to hit cinema screens on August 1.
